Coach Larry Holley from the university team William Jewell Cardinals has reached for the talents of GBA Sparta Praha. This time the Moldovan player in the category up to the age of 20 Emil Ostafiiciuc, who came to GBA in August last year, has become a Holley’s target. The 207-cm-high centre not only has improved all individual activities, but also his mental and physical endurance. Already in the January tournament National Prep School Invitational in Road Islands in the USA, Emil showed in great shape and since then four American universities have started to be interested in him. “It's great that Emil in addition to basketball in GBA has improved his SAT in English because without it he would hardly get such a good offer as William Jewell College is”, says Julian Betko flatly, a head coach and director of GBA. “When Emil adds a little bit of “American” self-confidence to his diligence and natural modesty, then he might move up the Cardinals to a higher rank again”, predicts Julian Betko. What nice Moldovan player Emil Ostafiiciuc says about his future contract you will find out in the upcoming interview.

GBA Sparta Praha has added to its score another success when the male “A” team player Simon Zajicek and a member of the Spartan basketball team has got a contract at a prestigious private university William Jewell College in Missouri in the USA. Cardinals basketball team plays in The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), which is a very good competition in NCAA second division. Four teams from this conference took place in TOP25 NCAA second division of the United States (Drury, Wisconsin-Parkside, Indianapolis, Great Superior State University). A team led by an experienced coach Larry Holley was moved up to the second division two years ago, and it has big ambitions for the future - to get a respected position in the western group of this Conference. “Simon worked hard and dutifully to 120% in each training. It is a pleasure to work with such a great player”, says Julian Betko about Simon, a head coach and director of GBA. “We will miss in GBA this type of player with such determination, will and fighting spirit, who is able to encourage tirelessly and pull the team throughout the match. But, for these dispositions Simon deserves the university”, says Julian Betko convincingly. Simon Zajicek will tell us more about his fulfilled dream in an interview that is coming soon.
